2024 Annual Report

Dear Colleagues and Partners,

Our core mission has been and always will be to help local leaders find, develop, and share solutions to advance economic mobility because we believe in creating national change from the ground up.

Last year, we expanded our impact significantly – from working with 80 communities in 2023 to 119 in 2024. Our Annual Report details our impact across the country, and we encourage you to download it. In the meantime, here are some key highlights

  • The Economic Opportunity Accelerators (formerly the Economic and Community Development Practitioners’ Network) doubled its membership to 600 leaders representing 99 communities across 37 states. Together, these cross-sector leaders form a powerful ecosystem for sharing solutions and accelerating economic progress in communities nationwide.

  • AFA Action actively advised three successful ballot measures in Maricopa County, AZ; Nashville, TN; and Columbus, OH, totaling $35 billion in anticipated new revenue for transit and transportation infrastructure.

  • Our Data for Housing Solutions partnership with Tolemi helped 17 cities identify 103,451 publicly owned properties across 463 public entities. These cohort cities can now systematically evaluate these sites for potential transformation into affordable housing.

  • AFA established the bipartisan National Housing Crisis Task Force, which issued “From Crisis to Transformation: A Federal Housing Policy Agenda” with 40 detailed recommendations to spur the production of more than 750,000 new housing units per year. Stay tuned for a Policy Action Plan for Local and State Leaders.

AFA and AFA Action were created to adapt to the changing federal policy landscape and provide communities with the tools they need to increase economic mobility, drive new investments in infrastructure and housing, and tap national resources.

Thank you for all you do to drive change in your community and to support our work across the country!
